MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT APPRECIATES SUCCESSFUL COOPERATION WITH THE NATIONAL LAND SERVICE
On the 16 of December, at an event organised by the Ministry of Transport to discuss the implementation of the first phase of the "Rail Baltica" project of state importance, the ministerial representatives thanked the National Land Service (NLS) for an efficient cooperation.
As a contribution to the Rail Baltica project, the NLS carries out acquisition of land for public needs, which is intended to be carried out in two phases. The first stage is successfully completed. During this time, the land from the owners of private land parcels was taken to the Rail Baltica rail track.
During the implementation of the project, the territorial divisions of NLS checked the 4201 cadastral data files compiled for land parcels, which were drawn up to determine the exact parts of the parcels taken. In the second half of 2018 and in the first half of 2019 year, when implementing the first phase of the "Rail Baltica" project of special public importance, the NLS verified and validated 6 projects of land collection for public needs in Kaunas, Kedainiai, Jonava, Pasvalys and Panevezys district municipalities.
Following the approval of the projects, Laimonas Čiakas, the director of the NLS, took decisions to take 1365 parcels with a total area of 1244 hectares in the areas of Panevezys, Pasvalys, Kaunas, Jonava and Kedainiai districts for public needs. The Director signed 1750 acts of collection of land for the needs of public (a total of about 7500 copies).
After completing the first phase of “Rail Baltica”, the NLS continues to carry out procedures for the collection of land for public needs in relation to the second phase of implementation. To ensure access to the parcels adjacent to the intended track gauge plots of land shall be taken for the construction and reconstruction of local roads.
During the second phase of the "Rail Baltica" project of special public importance, the Ministry of Transport has provided 5 projects for the collection of land for public purposes. The Director Laimonas Čiakas has already approved all these projects in the municipalities of Kaunas, Pasvalys, Kėdainiai, Panevezys and Jonava districts.
